Gynecologist Held Without Bond in Assault Case

COLUMBUS -- A gynecologist remained held without bond after pleading not guilty to charges of sexually assaulting a second patient. Dr. Eric A. Buffong was arrested last week after a second woman came forward and accused him of sexually assaulting her in his office. During a hearing in Muscogee County Recorder's Court on Saturday, Buffong pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual battery and aggravated sodomy. Meanwhile, Columbus police say they have been in contact with a third woman in Jacksonville, N.C., who has filed a complaint alleging misconduct by Buffong when she was one of his patients in that city in 1997.
