7 U.S. presidents since Roe v. Wade
Q. Since Roe v. Wade, which presidents used their constitutional power to issue an Executive Order outlawing abortion?Richard Nixon, R, (1969-74) No.
Gerald Ford, R, (1974-77) No.
Jimmy Carter, D, (1977-81) No.
Ronald Reagan, R, (1981-89) No.
George H.W. Bush, R, (1989-93) No.
Bill Clinton, D, (1993-2001) No.
George W. Bush, R, (2001-present) No.
Five Republican presidents and two Democrat presidents have all promoted or maintained the murder of innocent human beings while in office. It is a blatant lie to suggest any of these presidents are 'pro-life' when they failed to issue Executive Orders to outlaw the murder of children by abortion.
Executive Orders Defined
An Executive Order (EO) is a directive issued to executive-level agencies, department heads, or other employees from the President under the President's statutory, or constitutional powers. Thirty days after it is officially published in the Federal Register, an EO becomes law. While the EO does bypass the U.S. Congress and the standard legislative law making process, no part of an EO may be illegal or unconstitutional. The first EO was issued in 1789 by George Washington. Not until 1907 were EOs given official numbers.
Constitutional Authority for Executive Orders
Article II, section 1 of the Constitution reads, in part, "The executive power shall be vested in a president of the United States of America." And, Article II, section 3 asserts that, "The President shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed..."
Michael A. Peroutka: "I am 100% pro-life,
all nine months, no exceptions."
"In fact, I am so pro-life, that if elected I promise that abortion will end my first day in office. As President, I would advocate a total ban on all abortions and a total ban on any federal funding of abortions, here or abroad. As President, I would do everything in my power to end the national disgrace of abortion, starting with a formal acknowledgment of the legal person-hood of every child from the moment of conception.
