Mom Charged in C-Section Case Pleads Guilty to Two Counts of Child Endangerment, Murder Charge Dropped
SALT LAKE CITY -- A Utah woman accused of murdering one of her twins by refusing a lifesaving Caesarean section has pleaded guilty to two counts of child endangerment. Prosecutors initially charged Melissa Ann Rowland with murder for failing to follow doctors' orders -- saying she showed "depraved indifference to human life." The murder charge has now been dropped, under a plea bargain. Rowland will be sentenced later this month. She could get up to five years in prison on each count, and as much as a $5,000 fine.
