The 36-week-fetus reportedly died in the womb on Wednesday after the 25-year-old mother refused medical advice to have an emergency caesarean at Redland Hospital due to serious complications with the delivery. Pleas by medical staff, her family and a psychiatrist went unheeded. The woman later had an operation to deliver the dead child and is still in hospital. Police were called to the hospital but a spokeswoman for Queensland Police Service said no comment would be made on the issue. It is understood no charges will be laid.
