Investigators Look For Clues
After Newborn Found Dead Along Highway
Tahlequah - Investigators still don't know if a baby was dead or alive when she was left on the side of the road. She was found Monday night around nine o'clock south of Tahlequah along Highway 82. NewsChannel 8's Kim Jackson spoke with the woman, who made the unforgettable discovery. "I seen a plastic box next to it, a bag," says Tina Howard. "I opened that box and there was a little baby." "It's eyes were open, mouth open, the little tongue." She took the baby to her cabin and then called the sheriff. They believe the mother left the note inside the box with the baby's name. "Alexia Starr, and it said I love you, you'll always be in my heart, sorry it happened this way." Because it happened "this way", investigators want answers for the sake of the newborn left on the side of the road.
