Mom Who Dumped Newborn In Trash Gets Prison Term

PHILADELPHIA - A woman who gave birth in a bathroom at work, then dumped the baby in a trash bin and went back to her job packaging chocolate, was sentenced Tuesday to 6 to 12 years in prison. Prosecutors said Liem Swat Nio, 35, kept her pregnancy a secret and intended for her newborn to die when she abandoned him in a South Philadelphia factory restroom in 2001.
